- EditMilitary Decision making and leadership
The opposition to publishing anything even bordering criticism in a slavish army like pakistan army is regarded as blasphemous. I must thank some individuals who were instrumental in getting these articles published-- 1-Lieutenant Colonel I.D Hassan Editor Pakistan Army Journal 1988-90 who guided me how to organise end notes and references and published my first ever published writing , a letter to editor. 2-Lieutenant Colonel Syed Ishfaq Naqvi who published my first article Orders and Obedience in Pakistan Army Journal in March 1991 Issue. 3-Lieutenant Colonel Syed Jawaid Ahmad who published my articles Resolution Cardinal Command Virtue and Intangible Forces behind a Military Manoeuvre in Pakistan Army Journal June 1992 and June 1993 issues. 4-Lieutenant Colonel Ashraf Saleem ( now Lieutenant General Ashraf Saleem) for publishing my article Plain as well as subtle aspects of Military Decision Making in Command and Staff College Quetta Journal Citadel Issue 1/94. 5-Lieutenant Colonel Ahsan Mahmood ( now Major General) for publishing my articles Orders and Disobedience-Another View and The Armoured Thrust in Command and Staff College Quetta Journal Citadel Issue 1/97 and 1/98. 6-Lieutenant Colonel Tariq Khan (now Major General ) for getting my article The Relation of Doctrine and Organisation to Conduct of War to Command and Staff College Quetta Citadel Journal Issue 2/98. The sad part is that no one reads seriously and the end is diasastorous for Pakistan as a nation and army. The Victoria Cross and Nonsense Theory of Muslims being more martial in Pakistan. AFTER HEARING FOR MANY YEARS FALSE AND UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS FROM OFFICERS FROM PAKISTAN ARMY THAT MUSLIMS WERE MORE MARTIAL THAN SIKHS AND HINDUS I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE AWARD OF VC IN BRITISH INDIAN ARMY. HERE ARE MY CONCLUSIONS AS ANALYSED IN MY BOOK PAKISTAN ARMY TILL 1965 AT A PERSONAL LEVEL I WOULD ADD THAT MY CONCLUSIONS ABOUT THE MUSLIMS OF PINDI AND JHELUM ARE BASED ON MY GRAND FATHERS GRAND FATHER, GRAND FATHERS FATHER AND GRAND FATHERS STAY IN THE REGION AS A RISALDAR OF 5TH AND 8TH LIGHT CAVALRY IN PINDI IN 1857,AS AN INSPECTOR OF PUNJAB POLICE AT CHAUNTRA JATLI AND DINGA. CLOSE FRIENDS OF MY GRANDFATHER INCLUDED RAJA KHUDADAD ALI KHAN FATHER OF GENERALS AHMAD KAMAL AND AHMAD JAMAL (AHMAD JAMAL WAS MARRIED IN MY GRANDFATHERS HOUSE IN PINDI),BRIGADIER GULZAR AND SARDAR AZEEM OF JHELUM

- EditWho Saved Pakistan in 1965
THE MAIN INDIAN ATTACK BY A TANK DIVISION WAS STOPPED SINGLE HANDED BY A LONE TANK REGIMENT 25 CAVALRY. OFFICIAL PAKISTANI HISTORIAN MAJOR GENERAL SHAUKAT RIZA IN HIS BOOK 1965 WAR THAT COMMANDING OFFICER LIEUTENANT COLONEL NISAR OF 25 CAVALRY WAS SIMPLY TOLD BY HIS SUPERIOR BRIGADIER ABDUL ALI MALIK " DO SOMETHING" NISAR ON HIS OWN JUDGEMENT DEPLOYED HIS REGIMENT IN EXTENDED LINE. AFTER THE 1965 WAR A MYTH WAS INVENTED THAT THE REAL HERO OF CHAWINDA WAS BRIGADIER ALI. BRIGADIER ABDUL ALI MALIK IDEALLY FITTED IN THIS MOULD AND ETHNIC AND REGIMENTAL INTERESTS COLLUDED TO MAKE THIS MYTH A NEAR REALITY. WHILE WRITING MY BOOK PAKISTAN ARMY TILL 1965 IN 1998-1999 I WAS CONVINCED THAT THIS SEVERE DISTORTION AND TWISTING OF HISTORY NEEDS TO BE DISPROVED AND DEMOLISHED. AN EXCERPT OF MY BOOK PUBLISHED IN DEFENCE JOURNAL KARACHI MARCH 2000 ISSUE ON REAL HERO OF CHAWINDA DREW SOME ANGRY RESPONSES BELOW IS THE CONTROVERSY AS LATE AS 2008 SHUJA NAWAZ A RELATIVE OF ABDUL ALI MALIK FROM HIS WIFES SIDE WAS PROPAGATING THIS MYTH AS A HISTORICAL TRUTH.

After I finished writing this book review I was disappointed to receive the following e mail from a military friend which stated as following :--- Agha, this book was a joint effort of the Staff College and was undertaken as a project for the purpose of teaching. The General had no right to put his name to it and publish it as if it was an individual effort. It remains an institutional document and is used as such at the College.
